Getting started in government locum tenens
Top Docs is proud of our legacy of finding, recruiting and retaining the best and the most qualified physicians for government locum tenens assignments. Our mission of making a difference through the placements we make means there are a few minimum requirements all candidates must meet in order to join our ranks. All physicians must have completed an ACGME approved residency training program in the specialty for which they will be assigned, in addition to being Board Certified or Board Eligible.
To ensure that our clients and their patients receive the highest quality care, Top Docs painstakingly reviews all documentation during our very thorough credentialing process. At a minimum, physicians must submit:
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) with an explanation of any gaps in the CV from medical school to present
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
- Valid DEA certificate
- Four professional references from peers who have witnessed the physician’s clinical skills within the previous 12 months
